Revisiting my 2021 wanderlust wishlist
Back in the dying days of 2020, still in the throes of Covid lockdowns and housebound after my operation on my foot, I wrote a wildly ambitious travel wishlist that I was apparently going to do in 2021!
Four years later I am still working through the list though I have made some decent progress and am now thinking of my next set of adventures. With much less focus on the US and maybe more Asia and a return to Australia.
Below is the list and with my December trip to Nashville coming up fast the only fails have been Lisbon (I have to be honest - I got put off by all the talk of hills!), Boston (it was a coin toss between Boston and Nashville for December - if Kamala gets in next week maybe I'll go for 2025) and New Orleans (I went off this idea to be honest - there are other places) -->
go to Amsterdam and visit the Museum of Street Art.
go to Berlin and visit the Urban Art Museum.
go to Lisbon and visit the street art neighbourhoods.
go to Downtown LA and visit the Arts District (and stay at the Ace Hotel).
go to Miami and visit the Museum of Graffiti (and Wynwood Walls).
stay in New York for more than a few days. Long enough to have no plans. Just be there.
go to Boston and visit Harvard.
go to Philly eat a cheese steak and do the Rocky steps (not in that order).
go to Nashville and listen to country getting drunk on bourbon.
go (back) to New Orleans and listen to jazz getting drunk on bourbon.
go (back) to Austin eat bbq and watch some (American) Football (not at the same time).
go to a quintessential, Hallmark, American ‘Christmas’ town in December.
see the Christmas tree and skaters at Rockefeller Center in NYC.
